The museums are probably the best part since they all are free. I was very underwhelmed with the air and space museum, but the art museums were incredible.
If you do go in the future, you would probably want to budget 2 days at the minimum for museums alone. And you can get most places without a car. It was a great city.
I think the only reason DC would tempt me to go are all the museums.
